The Cottage Raid
It's 2013 and the production hits the ground running with various props needing sourced and a cottage needing dressed for action. While a number of cottages were donated by private individuals for this particular scene, we chose one situated in Lanark. .
With six soldiers in this siege scene, a good deal of attention was paid to the training of the actors playing out the military manoeuvre with professional coaching on set. Windows smashed, doors kicked in and smoke grenades lowering visibility, there was a great deal of work to be done to ensure the safety of everyone on set.
If the crew thought that the worst was over, having braved the previous scenes filmed in November and December of 2012, they were much mistaken. With temperatures plummeting and snow falling it was tough going for all involved, and copious hot soup and rolls were the order of the day..
Filming went over into Sunday as Saturday was mainly a washout as snow continued to fall – despite the crews very best efforts washing down roofs, gardens and driveways it was impossible to beat the weather. One exterior shot was managed by constructing a very large tent framework out from one of the cottage roofs.
